2011 Crops Grown

Our big crop this season was onions. We love onions! Early sweet whites; Red Tropeas, the sweetest Italian onion that does not make you cry, perfect raw in summer salads; Cippolinis, the flat Italian onion perfect for roasting; and sweet yellows. Oh, and shallots, French red and Dutch yellow.

Greens ~ Salad mix, arugula, sorrel, mustard, rainbow chard, spinach, kales, and various greens for our braising mix: tatsoi, beet greens, kale, chard, spinach, turnip greens, baby collards.

Roots ~ Rainbow carrots, beets, turnips, radish, rutabaga, parsnips

Leeks, tomatoes, kohlrabi, cucumber, melons of many kinds, yum! summer squash, winter squash, green beans (actually yellow wax, flat Italian green, yard long red noodle, red burgundy, and several kinds of green beans), okra, eggplant

Culinary herbs ~ dill, parsley, basil & Flower bouquets

Garlic ~ scapes in spring, and 40 kinds, both hardnecks and softnecks – check out the pic of our around-the-world garlic samplers, each kind has a tag describing the country-of-origin and type
